Local Gouvernance

Support to local governance is important for decentralised cooperation. The North and the South work together to promote a participatory local development, based on conciliation, and to strengthen dialogs between the civil society and the local authorities.

The primary tools used to ensure the decentralisation process are the creation of neighbourhood councils, the dialogs between the populations and the authorities and the reinforcement of the civil society’s capacities. Consultation, transparency and efficiency are the main values promoted. The “intercommunal” approach and the dynamics of the territory are particularly important through, for example, the support to community groups.
